Ireland adopted the Gregorian calendar, the calendar we use today, in the year 1752, at the same time as Britain and its colonies.

Before 1752, Ireland (then under British rule) was still using the Julian calendar, which by then was 11 days behind the actual solar year due to accumulated error.

The original Roman calendar had 10 months and 304 days, starting in March and ending in December.
January and February were added later (~713 BCE) by King Numa Pompilius, bringing the total to 12 months.
Julian Calendar:
Who: Julius Caesar
When: Introduced in 45 BCE
Why: To correct calendar drift and align it with the solar year.
