An Irish woman is aggressively obstructed by Navan Mayor Edward Fennessey while attempting to exercise her democratic right to ask questions at a political gathering. Fennessey, who can be seen here as the instigator of all hostility towards the female Navan native, displays a deeply troubling level of aggression towards his own constituent.
In this disturbing exchange, he can clearly be seen baring his teeth and moving towards the woman in what appears to be an attempted physical assault—only prevented by the swift intervention of his companion.
Edward Fennessey would do well to remember that even in modern Ireland, where expectations of our political representatives are at an all-time low, Irish men still do not consider the bullying or intimidation of women to be an excusable offence.
